Laboratories and Facilities

This laboratory contains several systems critical to conducting spray atomization and atomizer design research. Equipment includes a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA), a Durr Eco 2 Rotary Bell and Durr control panel, a Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) setup, and other equipment.

This laboratory contains several systems for nondestructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E). Included in the equipment are infrared cameras, visual cameras, several heating applicators, and other items.

Researchers employ the use of computational resources within the IR4TD and the University to create complex models that can simulate processes like paint spray atomization, paint transfer efficiency, air flow in overspray paint particles, and curing of painted surfaces.
