Wejdan Abu Al Haija is a graduate student at the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, pursuing her master’s in teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). She also serves as a Research Assistant at the University of Kentucky Institute of Research for Technology Development (IR4TD).
Wejdan obtained a bachelor’s degree in English at Taibah University, Saudi Arabia, and a master’s degree in English from Malta University, with an emphasis on sociolinguistics and the linguistic landscape of Al-Madina in Saudi Arabia. Her research areas also encompass a broad spectrum, including the study of languages, diversity and cultures, and second language acquisition theories. She delves deeply into how languages can be learned and taught, exploring cultural contexts that shape languages. At IR4TD, Wejdan’s work explores the cognitive processes used when acquiring a second language, including the best practices that are effective and meaningful for learners, not only in language acquisition, but also in manufacturing skills learning.
